SABRA JOHNSON

Author, Coach and Speaker

Sabra Johnson’s life mission is simple yet profound: to help others experience the transformative power of restoration. Whether restoring vintage automobiles or inspiring personal change, Sabra bridges the worlds of craftsmanship and personal growth through a singular focus—empowering people to rebuild, reimagine, and reclaim what was once lost.

Though renowned globally for his extraordinary skills in automotive restoration, Sabra uses his platform to teach life-changing lessons on overcoming recidivism and relapse. By employing the same principles and processes he uses to restore cars, he equips individuals with practical tools to rebuild their lives.

Restoring Lives and Machines

As an author, speaker, and motivational change agent, Sabra inspires the 30%—those striving to achieve lasting restoration in their personal and professional lives.

The 30% Defined:

Sabra highlights that fewer than 30% of former addicts maintain sobriety after one year, and only 30% of ex-offenders remain free after five years. For Sabra, restoration is more than a process—it’s a promise. He believes that lasting transformation comes from filling your toolbox with the right strategies, discipline, and support systems to thrive.

Sabra’s dual mission of automotive and personal restoration reflects his belief that both machines and people can be beautifully rebuilt when approached with precision, care, and vision.

A Legacy in Automotive Innovation

Sabra’s 30+ years in the automotive aftermarket industry began humbly, working at his cousin’s European Sales and Performance Shop. It was there he learned the value of hard work, dedication, and an eye for detail—traits that would later define his career.

Today, Sabra owns and operates one of the largest aftermarket restoration groups in the world. From designing and building vehicles for heads of state, corporate leaders, and celebrities to shipping custom projects to Australia, Dubai, Europe, and beyond, Sabra’s restoration work is celebrated for its unparalleled artistry and craftsmanship.

His visionary approach to automotive restoration led to the creation of the 25-Step Build Process, a groundbreaking system that sets the standard for professional vehicle restoration. This detailed process provides a clear, systematic flow for builds, integrating Sabra’s proprietary accounting, billing, and design methodologies.

Sabra’s innovative techniques are not just about restoring cars; they reflect a philosophy of restoring systems, ideas, and the industry itself. His work has disrupted the traditional restoration model, closing the system and talent gaps that once plagued the aftermarket.

Restoration as a Ministry

For Sabra, the garage is more than a workshop—it’s a place of ministry. Drawing from years of para-church and full-service ministry experience, he understands the deep connection between the restorative work he performs on cars and the restoration many seek in their lives. Sabra believes that each vehicle tells a story, much like every individual. Whether he is restoring a rare classic or speaking to someone seeking hope, his goal remains the same: to make things whole again.

Through his Sabra Talks program, Sabra travels to Boys and Girls Clubs across America, sharing his story of perseverance and teaching young people the principles of restoration, resilience, and redemption. By incorporating the values of patience, precision, and persistence he applies to car restoration, Sabra demonstrates how these same principles can lead to profound life changes.

Sabra’s unique perspective has allowed him to address the challenges of recidivism and relapse with empathy and innovation. He sees restoration as an ongoing process that requires consistent effort, just as a restored car requires maintenance to keep running smoothly. By emphasizing discipline, self-awareness, and the importance of having a strong support system, Sabra continues to inspire countless individuals to embrace the possibilities of a renewed life.

Overcoming Racism and Breaking Barriers

Sabra Johnson’s journey has not been without its challenges. As a Black leader in a predominantly white industry, he has faced systemic barriers that have shaped his understanding of resilience and inclusivity. Racism in the automotive aftermarket industry is a reality that Sabra has confronted head-on, using his success and platform to advocate for diversity and representation.

He believes that dismantling barriers starts with creating opportunities. Whether mentoring young professionals, hiring a diverse workforce, or engaging with underrepresented communities, Sabra has made it his mission to ensure the doors he has opened remain open for others. By addressing these issues transparently, he has not only expanded his business but also created a legacy of equity and fairness in an industry that has often overlooked diverse voices.

A Life of Passion and Purpose

When Sabra isn’t at the helm of his multi-location restoration company or speaking to youth, he can often be found at exclusive collector car sales or auctions, building his private collection of vintage and classic cars. His deep love for automotive history drives his passion for collecting, preserving, and sharing the stories behind these magnificent vehicles.

Sabra is a proud member of numerous prestigious organizations, including the Antique Automotive Club of America, Porsche Club of America, Classic Car Club of America, and several others that reflect his dedication to the industry. Beyond his automotive pursuits, Sabra spends time at Horsepower Ranch, his equestrian estate in Magnolia, Texas. Here, he finds balance and restoration in the natural beauty of his surroundings, often drawing parallels between the care of his horses and the meticulous attention he gives to cars.

At Horsepower Ranch, Sabra enjoys quality time with his wife and family, combining his passions for restoration, equestrian life, and family values. The ranch serves as a sanctuary where he can recharge and reflect on his mission to empower others.
